Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and be adept at performing various maintenance tasks to ensure the functionality and safety of our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
- Address and repair minor electrical issues (e.g., replacing light fixtures, outlets, smoke detectors)
- Complete plumbing repairs (e.g., unclog drains, repair leaks, replace faucets/toilets)
- Repair or replace appliances, doors, windows, and fixtures
- Conduct regular checks on safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors)
- Maintain cleanliness and order of facility grounds (e.g., mowing lawn, removing snow, trimming bushes)
- Maintain driveways, sidewalks, and exterior lighting
- Ensure all outdoor spaces are free of hazards
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks when required
- Monitor and report pest issues
- Perform routine fire, health, and safety inspections (daily/weekly/monthly)
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and licensing requirements
- Maintain log of inspections and completed repairs
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies (e.g., flooding, power outages, HVAC failure)
- Be available on-call after hours, as scheduled
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and replacement parts
- Order materials or coordinate with vendors when necessary
- Maintain maintenance logs and submit required reports
- Document repairs, inspections, and safety checks
- Report hazardous or non-compliant conditions to management
- Work with program staff to schedule maintenance around resident routines
- Coordinate with vendors, inspectors, and contractors as directed
- Support moving furniture, setting up equipment, or facility rearrangements
- Participate in staff meetings when required
Skills
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and diagrams
- Strong ability to identify, diagnose, and repair issues quickly
- Resourceful and solution-oriented approach to unexpected maintenance problems

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of maintenance experience (preferably in residential or healthcare setting)
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of OSHA and ADA compliance
