We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Auto Program Manager / Senior Commercial Auto Underwriter to lead the development, underwriting, and management of our commercial auto insurance programs. Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite commercial auto insurance applications by analyzing risk factors, financial statements, and industry data to determine appropriate coverage terms and pricing.
- Develop and refine underwriting guidelines to ensure consistency and profitability across the auto insurance portfolio.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments using quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and data collection techniques to support underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to negotiate policy terms, coverage limits, and premiums while maintaining positive relationships.
- Monitor portfolio performance through data analysis in Excel and other financial software tools; identify trends and recommend adjustments to mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, legal standards, and internal policies related to commercial auto underwriting and lending practices.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on financial analysis, risk evaluation, and portfolio metrics for senior management review.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance principles, underwriting practices, and industry regulations.
- Proficiency in financial statement interpretation, financial analysis, cash flow analysis, and financial modeling.
- Expertise in negotiation strategies with clients, brokers, and internal teams to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and report writing; experience with financial software is a plus.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles related to risk assessment and premium calculations.
- Experience with commercial lending processes including loan processing, credit analysis, compliance with loan regulations, and fraud prevention techniques.
- Ability to analyze quantitative research data for risk evaluation; familiarity with industry-specific financial concepts such as industry knowledge of financial regulations and tax considerations.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in risk analysis, forecasting, financial report writing, portfolio management, and industry-specific financial services.
