POSITION: Painter

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt

NUMBER OF DAYS: 250

PAY GRADE: Aux PG-5

DIVISION:

DEPARTMENT: School Plant Services

REPORTS TO: Director of Facility Design, Paint Foreman

EDUCATION: High School education or equivalent

EXPERIENCE: Prior job experience as a painter

Position Function/Purpose

To improve the appearance of district facilities by repairing and painting them according to instructions.

Major Responsibilities

1. Prepare the surface to be painted

2. Select proper painting supplies and equipment

3. Cares for equipment used on job site.

4. Protect existing facilities as painting is being done

5. Keep paint foreman informed on all projects and work orders stratus

6. Other duties as assigned by Plumbing Foreman or Director of Facility Design

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Certification/Education:

7. The ability to read and write

8. The ability to follow written and oral directions

9. High School education or equivalent

10. Maintain valid Texas Driver’s license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

11. The ability to perform duties at unusual heights

12. Ability to distinguish basic colors

13. Repeated bending and climbing

14. Moderate lifting

Minimum Experience:

Prior job experience as a painter

Paint

Ladder (Stilts on occasion)

Scrapper

Spray gun

Air compressors/spray equipment

Caulking compounds

Physical Demands:

Lifting

Climbing ladder

Reaching over shoulder

Repeated bending

Standing

Work Environment

Environment:

Outside and Inside

Working on ladder or scaffolding

Solvents/paints

Protracted or irregular hours of work

Tight confined spaces
