American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience and an active Colorado Surgical Technologist license for a rotating OR position at a hospital in Vail, CO.

Hospital operating room setting serving a broad patient population from neonates through geriatric patients

Rotating shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts per week

13-week contract

Minimum of 1 year of surgical technologist experience
-
Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist program
-
Active Colorado Surgical Technologist license required (license required if applicable)

BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Working knowledge of AORN standards

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary for job-specific online requirements

Maintains sterile surgical field integrity and provides instrumentation to the surgical team during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures

Applies expertise in sterile and aseptic technique with knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures

Monitors sterile field for contamination events and initiates or communicates corrective action as needed

Inspects all items for proper packaging, seal integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates

Participates fully in the Time Out process, including Briefings and Debriefings with the perioperative team

Assists with patient transport, room turnovers, and room preparation
-
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization
-
Working toward or competent with Tier 1 surgical cases

Functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse

Colorado requires a CAPS registration, which may take up to two weeks to obtain — candidates should be prepared to complete this process early
