About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Heavy-Duty Parts Expert with a strong background in the heavy-duty truck and trailer industry. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows the difference between a good parts recommendation and a bad one, understands what technicians and customers need, and can quickly identify the right part for the job.
The ideal candidate has practical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, diesel equipment, and aftermarket/OEM parts, and is comfortable working directly with customers, technicians, suppliers, and vendors.
This role is based in Midland TX, and is an in-person position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers and technicians at the parts counter with identifying and sourcing the correct heavy-duty truck and trailer parts.
- Use industry knowledge, parts experience, catalogs, and electronic parts systems to accurately identify components.
- Sell OEM, aftermarket, and replacement parts while recommending the best option based on application, quality, availability, and customer requirements.
- Identify parts using VINs, serial numbers, part numbers, equipment specifications, measurements, and visual identification.
- Develop strong working relationships with fleet customers, repair shops, owner-operators, technicians, and other industry professionals.
- Provide knowledgeable and efficient service to customers both in person and over the phone.
- Prepare quotes, process orders, and follow up on backorders and special-order parts.
- Source hard-to-find parts through suppliers and industry contacts.
- Maintain accurate parts orders and ensure customers receive the correct parts in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the service and shop teams to understand repair requirements and help minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain knowledge of current heavy-duty truck and trailer components, applications, manufacturers, and aftermarket products.
- Recommend related parts, kits, hardware, and other components when appropriate to complete the repair correctly.
- Receive, organize, and maintain parts inventory while helping keep the parts department clean and organized.
- Handle returns, warranties, cores, and discrepancies professionally and efficiently.
- Stay current with new products, technology, and changes within the heavy-duty truck and trailer industry.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in the heavy-duty truck and trailer parts industry is required.
- Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer components and systems.
- Experience working at a parts counter, dealership, repair facility, fleet, or heavy-duty parts supplier.
- Ability to identify parts and understand their application rather than simply looking up a part number.
- Comfortable dealing directly with customers, technicians, suppliers, and vendors.
- Strong product knowledge across areas such as:
- Brakes and wheel-end components
- Suspension and steering
- Electrical and lighting
- Engine and cooling systems
- Driveline and transmission components
- Air systems
- Fifth wheels and trailer components
- Hitches and towing components
- Hydraulic components
- Filters, belts, hoses, and maintenance products
- Strong computer and parts-catalog skills.
- Excellent attention to detail — getting the right part the first time is critical.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment where customers and technicians need parts quickly.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A practical, problem-solving approach and willingness to get involved when the answer isn't immediately obvious.
