Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients and assisting healthcare professionals with tasks such as catheter care, phlebotomy, or medication administration under supervision.
- Maintain patient safety by utilizing proper manual handling techniques, safe lifting practices, and equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nursing staff, especially in critical care or behavioral health settings.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring dementia or memory care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Prior experience in settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), assisted living communities, or home & community care is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting and manual handling safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks) systems for accurate documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with caregivers, patients, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient service delivery.
