Position: Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School is a four-year regional vocational technical high school serving approximately 650 students and currently offering fifteen technical programs. The district is currently expanding, with projected enrollment growth over the coming years.This Assistant Food Services Director will report to and work closely with the Food Service Director. The position may be assigned to both the districts new extended campus located in the former Cold Spring School in Belchertown, Massachusetts and the main Pathfinder Tech campus in Palmer.Qualifications: Associates Degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university preferred.Current food sanitation certification (e.g., ServSafe) required.Minimum of three years of full-time experience in food service, nutrition, or a related field.Experience in school or municipal food service operations preferred.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Performance Responsibilities: Assists the Food Service Director and Business Manager in establishing and monitoring financial objectives and goals for the Child Nutrition Program (CNP). Supports the maintenance of required records and documentation in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and policies.
Assists with the preparation and submission of monthly federal and state reimbursement claims.Participates in purchasing cooperatives and bid collaboratives to support purchasing guidelines that reflect product knowledge, customer preferences, district needs, policies, and nutrition objectives. Assists in implementing standards for receiving, storing, and inventorying food and non-food supplies in accordance with sound management practices and local Board of Health regulations. Supports the receipt and planned use of government commodities.Assists in the development and implementation of cost-effective menus that meet nutrition standards, quality expectations, and all applicable local, state, and federal guidelines. Supports coordination with school staff, parents, and medical professionals to address students with special dietary needs.Supports the implementation of procedures to ensure food is prepared and served in a safe and sanitary manner in compliance with local and state food codes.
Assists in reinforcing employee safety practices and regulations throughout all food service operations.Assists in the supervision, training, and evaluation of food service staff. Supports performance improvement efforts and professional development, including ServSafe certification and required training.Assists with staff scheduling, work assignments, and monitoring of attendance and hours worked. Reviews timesheets for accuracy prior to submission to the business office. Helps maintain and utilize a substitute list as needed.Assists with the administration of the Free and Reduced Meal Program, including obtaining direct certification lists and reviewing, processing, and entering meal applications in accordance with program guidelines.Supports the implementation and maintenance of management information systems and point-of-sale systems.
Assists with staff training on technology used to improve efficiency and productivity in food service operations.Assists with daily reconciliation of online prepayment systems and cashier drawers. Supports the preparation of daily deposits and cash transmittals to the business office.Assists with ordering food and supplies, verifying deliveries, and reviewing invoices and purchase orders for accuracy prior to submission for payment.Maintains confidentiality of student, staff, and operational information in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or administration.Compensation: Anticipated range of $55,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.Position Type: Full-Time Position (12 months) with benefits.
