Medical Assistant Instructor
California Healing Arts College | Carson, CA $25.00–$38.00 per hour | Full-Time and Part-Time openings available
Shape the next generation of healthcare professionals
California Healing Arts College (CHAC) has been preparing students for meaningful careers in the healing arts since 1988. We're looking for a passionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our faculty and help our students gain the skills, confidence, and credentials they need to launch their careers, often in just nine months.
If you love your profession and want to pay it forward by training the next wave of MAs, we'd love to meet you.
About the role
As a Medical Assistant Instructor, you'll teach across our 36-week MA program; guiding students through both clinical and administrative competencies in our hybrid model (online lectures + hands-on labs at our Carson campus). You'll work directly with the Director of Education. We're looking for candidates with dedication to their roles and passionate for teaching.
You'll teach modules such as:
- Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Office Procedures
- Cardiology, EKG, Injections, and Physical Exam Prep
- Phlebotomy, Hematology, Blood Chemistry, and OSHA standards
- Vital Signs, CLIA '88, Medical Records, and Wound Care
- Microbiology, Nutrition, Special Senses, GYN, and Prenatal Care
- Insurance Coding, Law & Ethics, and Patient Communication
- CPR/BLS certification training (per AHA guidelines)
Class sizes are intentionally small, a maximum of 36 students for lecture and 25:1 for labs, so you'll have real opportunities to mentor.
Schedule options
We're hiring for both full-time and part-time positions. Classes run Monday–Thursday with two cohorts:
- Day cohort: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Evening cohort: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Friday: Office hours, prep, grading, and faculty meetings (full-time only)
Full-Time: Cover both day and evening cohorts plus Friday on-campus duties. Part-Time: Teach the day cohort or the evening cohort. Tell us which works for your life.
What you'll do
- Plan and deliver curriculum across classroom, lab, and online learning environments
- Develop written lesson plans and adapt instruction through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice
- Prepare, administer, and grade quizzes, written exams, and practical skills assessments
- Track student attendance, grades, and progress in line with CHAC's academic standards
- Identify learning needs and provide one-on-one academic support when students are struggling
- Help students develop the professionalism, ethics, and clinical judgment expected in healthcare settings
- Collaborate with the Program Director on instructional materials and curriculum updates
- Serve as a professional role model — both in clinical knowledge and conduct
