Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) / Behavior Technician
Location: Roots to Blooms LLC – Nature-Inspired ABA
Job Overview:
Roots to Blooms LLC is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Behavior Technician to join our team in a unique, nature-inspired ABA setting. The RBT is a paraprofessional who works under the supervision of a BCBA or BCaBA to implement behavior intervention plans for clients with various developmental and behavioral challenges. RBTs focus on teaching new skills, reducing problem behaviors, and promoting positive behaviors through data-driven techniques. RBT certification ensures that individuals are trained in evidence-based practices and ethical standards in behavior analysis.
Our facility embraces a holistic approach to therapy, integrating the calming and restorative elements of nature to create an environment that fosters learning and growth. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a BCBA known for their “hippy” ethos—an individual who advocates for an integrative, creative, and compassionate approach to behavior analysis and therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans: Execute individualized behavior intervention plans tailored to each client's needs, utilizing data-driven techniques to teach communication, social, and daily living skills; reduce inappropriate behaviors (such as aggression and self-injury); and promote desired behaviors (such as following instructions and social interactions).
- Nature-Based Learning Opportunities: Utilize our outdoor therapeutic spaces, including gardens, walking trails, and open areas, to incorporate natural elements into learning activities. This approach enhances engagement and exploration, helping clients connect with their environment.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Accurately record and track client behaviors, progress, and any changes observed during therapy sessions. Ensure data collection is consistent, reliable, and comprehensive to support decision-making and celebrate client progress.
- Holistic Skill Development: Facilitate programs focused on skill acquisition, behavior reduction strategies, and social skills promotion within the enriching context of nature. Activities may include gardening, nature walks, or outdoor games that align with therapeutic goals.
- Collaboration with Interdisciplinary Team: Work with an interdisciplinary team of therapeutic affiliates, including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and mental health professionals. This collaborative environment enhances the support you provide to clients and allows for a comprehensive approach to care.
- Family Education and Support: Provide training and support to families and caregivers, aiding them in implementing behavior intervention strategies in daily routines and natural environments.
- Maintain Professional Conduct: Adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards set forth by the BACB, ensuring appropriate behavior, confidentiality, and communication with all stakeholders.
- Ongoing Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research, techniques, and ethical standards in behavior analysis through required continuing education and certification renewals.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Current RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) is preferred. Minimum 40 hours of RBT training covering key topics in behavior analysis.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges is preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, observation, and data collection skills are essential. You should be able to form meaningful connections with clients and their families, establishing trust and rapport.
- Adaptability: This role requires flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment that embraces creativity and innovation to address challenges.
At Roots to Blooms LLC, our "hippy" BCBA fosters a philosophy that embraces open-mindedness, creativity, and the unique potential of every individual. They encourage the use of innovative therapeutic techniques, including art, meditation, and community-building exercises, all within the beautiful context of nature.
Join our team to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the families we serve while being part of a vibrant and caring environment that values holistic growth and healing. Embrace the opportunity to be a catalyst for change in a space where nature and compassion come together to support personal development.
