Assistant Chef Job Description
Reports to:
Building Administrator
Overview:
The assistant chef will be responsible for preparing nutritious, visually appealing meals for the residents. They are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards as set by the Executive Chef.
Daily Expectations:
1.) Prepare and serve residents a nourishing, visually appealing, well-balanced meal in a safe and timely fashion.
2.) Prepare food following approved recipes and menus in adequate amounts to meet diet and census requirements.
3.) Execute all food preparation and cleaning tasks as assigned.
4.) Accurate recording of daily food usage, substitutions and temperatures.
5.) Report on any inoperable, faulty or unsafe equipment, conditions and/or furniture to the supervisor or Maintenance Director.
6.) Attend staff meetings and in-services.
7.) Interact with residents to ensure quality of food and beverages, as well as to determine likes and dislikes,
8.) Completion of any additional tasks as assigned to you by the supervisor.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
1-3 years working in a commercial kitchen. Elder care experience preferred
Certifications or licenses requirements:
Driver’s license required to operate company vehicles
Servsafe food handler certification preferred
