About the role
Athena Coding is hiring counselors for a licensed municipal summer camp in Acton, MA. Counselors lead groups of campers through outdoor games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, and structured camp routines. This is a high-energy, on-your-feet job that’s great for college students and anyone interested in education, coaching, childcare, social work, or recreation.
Dates: August 17- August 28, 2026 (2 weeks)
Availability: We are open to candidates who are looking for part-time or full time work during this period.
What you’ll do
- Supervise a group of campers and lead daily activities (sports, games, STEM builds, arts)
- Keep campers safe through active supervision, headcounts, and clear transitions
- Help run lunch, snack, restroom transitions, and dismissal
- Support waterfront transitions (Town lifeguards run swim; counselors support supervision and headcounts)
- Communicate professionally with camp leadership about attendance, behavior, and safety issues
- Maintain a clean, organized space and leave facilities in good condition
What we’re looking for
- Reliable, energetic, and good with kids
- Comfortable working outdoors in summer weather
- Strong communication and ability to follow procedures
- Prior experience with kids (camp, coaching, babysitting, tutoring, teaching assistant)
- Current CPR/First Aid is a plus (we can help arrange training if needed)
Requirements (before starting)
- Ability to pass background checks as required for youth programs
- Attend paid training/orientation before the first week of camp
- Commit to a consistent schedule (we prioritize full-season availability)
