Job Title: DRILL RIG OPERATOR
ABOUT THE JOB
Supports drilling and sampling operations throughout the Southeastern United States. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining drilling equipment, collecting representative samples, documenting drilling activities, and supporting the safe and efficient execution of field operations.
Job Responsibilities
· Operate sonic and other drilling equipment safely and efficiently as part of a drill rig crew.
· Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs to support rig availability.
· Assist with rig mobilization and demobilization activities.
· Use proper drilling and sampling techniques to collect representative, accurate, and efficient samples.
· Collect, label, handle, transport, prepare, and test samples in accordance with established procedures
· Maintain accurate drill logs, field records, sample documentation, and support reporting as required.
· Ensure timely delivery of samples to CEMEX Quality Laboratories.
- Support preparation of reports and other documentation related to drilling and sampling activities.
· Travel to CEMEX operations throughout the Southeastern U.S. and safely operate company vehicles/towing equipment when assigned.
- Adhere to all CEMEX, MSHA, and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED equivalent
· Good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance required.
· Previous drilling experience preferred; sonic drilling experience strongly preferred.
· Heavy equipment experience, surveying knowledge, drill logging, and sampling experience preferred.
· Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record required.
· Ability to work scheduled shift hours and be flexible with scheduling, overtime and weekends.
- Ability to travel and stay overnight if required.
- Be able to read, write, and speak English
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing to a significant degree, and/or pulling of controls
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently and 70 pounds occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Job involves walking or standing for long periods of time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
