Job Title: Inpatient Clinical Therapist

Location: Lone Star Behavioral Health (LSBH), Cypress, Texas
Reports To: Clinical Program Director
Schedule: Monday–Friday with possible weekend rotation
Overview:
Join a compassionate, mission-driven team at Lone Star Behavioral Health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital dedicated to providing quality behavioral healthcare. We are seeking a licensed or license-eligible Clinical Therapist to provide therapeutic services, facilitate equine-assisted therapy, and manage comprehensive discharge planning for adult patients in crisis.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Therapy Services
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Facilitate Equine Assisted Training sessions (training provided).
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Apply crisis intervention and suicide/harm risk assessments as needed.
- Maintain clear clinical boundaries while building therapeutic rapport.
Treatment Planning & Collaboration
- Participate in daily treatment team meetings with psychiatry, nursing, and case management.
- Offer diagnostic insight and contribute to level-of-care decisions.
- Maintain clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries) in compliance with JCAHO, CMS, TAC, and facility standards.
Case Management & Discharge Coordination
- Serve as primary case manager for assigned patients.
- Communicate with families, outpatient providers, and community resources.
- Coordinate follow-up care, transportation, and aftercare appointments with internal discharge planning staff.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited university
- Texas licensure: LPC, LCSW, or LMSW/LPC-Associate under supervision, LCDC in addition to clinical licensure is a plus
- Experience in inpatient or psychiatric settings preferred (minimum 1 year)
- Must complete LSBH Equine Assisted Therapy training upon hire (Equine Assisted Learning preferred)
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, diagnostic formulation, and clinical documentation
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations including patients with severe and persistent mental illness
Preferred Skills:
- Experience facilitating group therapy using CBT, DBT, trauma-informed methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of DSM-5-TR, case management principles, and discharge coordination
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
