FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
HighPointe Services is seeking a high energy Paraprofessional/Direct Support Professional to provide day program services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 18 and older. We are growing quickly and are looking to hire additional staff to work with our clients.
You will be a member of a team of fellow caring and fun service providers working with groups of 4-5 clients at a time. Our program day is split between our program facility and community trips using company vehicles. A key responsibility is to be comfortable around a variety of personalities, support needs and behaviors.
You will be responsible for assisting clients to participate in leading 30-minute classes on topics developed by our curriculum team while in the facility and leading engaging community outings to a variety of locations helping our clients to gain independence skills, attain fitness goals and have fun with fellow clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provide support to small groups of 5-10 clients in facility and 4-5 clients in the community.
- Lead 30-minute classes on topics developed by our curriculum team while in the facility including social skills, health and wellness, and volunteering.
- Lead engaging community outings to a variety of locations helping our clients to gain independence skills, attain fitness goals and have fun with fellow clients.
- Establishes a strong mentorship with clients by providing quality supports.
- Provides transportation as required using company vehicles in accordance with all relative company transportation policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Documents daily services documentation and tracking in a timely and accurate manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated skill in working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to engage in skilled interaction with people who require behavior development.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet company driving requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Activities take place on site and within community settings. Requires ability to: Drive a vehicle 1-2 hours per day; walk and push wheelchairs: lift clients during toileting, bend to strap chairs into vehicles; fold and lift wheelchairs: carry supplies; work continuously for 3-4 hours each day. Physical activities often make up the majority of an 8-hour shift.
