Title: Director of children, youth, and family ministries
Reports to: Senior minister, Church Council; Coordinates closely with church committees and officers
Work schedule: 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE) budgeted.
Objective:
Develops, organizes, and conducts intergenerational programs to deepen the faith of First Church’s children, youth, and families
Responsibilities
● Lead, in collaboration with the senior minister, minister of music, ministry of study, and church office staff, the design and implementation of programs consistent with church covenants that involve children and youth of all ages (preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, post-high school). These programs will serve to foster the spirituality of our children, youth, and families.
● Collaborate and coordinate with church committees and congregation members to design, develop, and implement intergenerational programs and events.
● Conduct needs assessment among families and youth.
● Outreach to townwide community organizations and individuals to understand areas of compatible interest and need.
● Participate in worship as appropriate, especially when children and youth are involved.
● Collaborate with senior minister to design and conduct biennial confirmation preparation for youth.
● Participate in office staff meetings.
● Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive church information, spoken, electronic and written.
Qualifications required
● Bachelor’s or associate’s degree with a concentration in an area relevant to children, youth, and families.
● Familiarity with using social media and other appropriate platforms for communication with children, youth, and families.
● Track record of successful problem-solving, project management, and program implementation.
Desirable qualifications
● Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field related to theology and/or education of children, youth, and families.
● At least three years’ experience implementing engaging and successful programs for children, youth, and families, at least one year of which is within a faith-based organization.
● At least one year’s experience with spiritual guidance of young people.
Pay: $10,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
