Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Star Swiss Lathe Operator to join our third-shift manufacturing team. This position is ideal for a skilled Swiss machinist with hands-on experience operating Star Swiss CNC lathes or similar Swiss-style turning centers in a precision machining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate Star Swiss CNC lathes to manufacture precision components.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
Perform tool changes, tool offsets, and routine machine adjustments.
Monitor machining operations and production runs to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
Identify and troubleshoot machining issues and make appropriate machine or process adjustments.
Maintain required dimensional accuracy and product quality throughout production runs.
Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area.
Communicate production, quality, tooling, and machine issues to appropriate team members.
Qualifications
Previous experience operating Star Swiss CNC lathes or similar Swiss-style turning centers.
Working knowledge of Swiss machining principles, including sliding-headstock and guide-bushing technology.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Experience using precision measuring instruments such as: Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, Gauges
Strong understanding of tool offsets, machine setup, and quality inspection procedures.
Ability to identify and correct common machining issues.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality precision parts.
Ability to work independently while following established procedures and production requirements.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following Swiss CNC machine brands is preferred:
Star
Citizen
Tsugami
Tornos
Hanwha
Nexturn
Nomura DS
Maier
Experience machining components for medical device, aerospace, defense, electronics, or other precision manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
Schedule
Initial Training: 1st Shift
Permanent Schedule: 3rd Shift upon successful completion of training
Must be willing and able to transition to a permanent third-shift schedule.
