About the Job
Raw Engine Media is a boutique automotive marketing agency serving the performance aftermarket industry. We are looking for a part-time in-house Videographer/Editor to shoot and edit motorsports and automotive performance content — trackside race coverage, desert off-road and overlanding builds and trips, and product launch content for performance parts brands.
This is a preditor-style, run-and-gun role: you run camera on location and cut the final edit, often with little to no support crew. You'll also help plan shoots, assist with logistics, and help keep budgets on track. The right candidate has real motorsports or action-automotive video experience and is comfortable running professional camera gear in rugged, fast-changing outdoor conditions. Strong Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects skills required.
Note: By "automotive experience required," we mean the car, bike, motorsport, or hard parts (exhaust, wheels, tires, turbos, etc.) were the actual subject — trackside coverage, product launches, off-road/overlanding content, or aftermarket installs. This is an in-house role based on-site in Chino, CA, with regular travel to shoot locations — tracks, desert trails, and events. Schedule varies by project; race weekends, product launches, and trail days often mean early mornings, nights, or weekends.
What You Will Do
Production
- Help plan shoots — assist with shot lists and shoot schedules around race weekends, track sessions, and outdoor/event conditions
- Assist with shoot logistics: help line up media credentials, paddock/pit access, and location permits for track days, desert/off-road locations, and product launch events
- Help coordinate with race teams, drivers, PR reps, and event organizers on interview and access scheduling
- Help keep shoot budgets on track — track gear, travel, and misc. production expenses and flag overages
- Help collect release forms and waivers as needed
- Adapt to fast-moving, unscripted motorsports conditions — sessions run early or late, weather changes, access windows close — and adjust the plan on the fly
Shooting
- Film motorsports and performance aftermarket content: trackside race coverage, product launch and reveal videos, desert off-road and overlanding builds and trips, shop/fabrication B-roll, and vehicle feature/spec highlights
- Set up and operate professional video cameras (Nikon and/or RED camera systems) in demanding on-location environments — trackside, dust and desert conditions, low light, moving vehicles
- Check lighting, audio, and framing in fast-changing outdoor and event conditions
Post
- Edit raw footage into finished long-form videos using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Cut short-form social reels and cut-downs (vertical/square, roughly 15-60 sec) from long-form footage for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts delivery
- Color correct footage, mix basic audio, and format final videos for their intended use (web, social media, or client delivery)
- Handle client revisions and deliver finished videos on schedule
- Back up and organize all raw and edited footage
- Care for and safely transport camera and editing equipment in rugged field conditions
General
- Travel to filming locations as needed, including races, off-road events, and out-of-town shoots
- Work nights and weekends when a shoot or deadline requires it
- Work with clients and the Raw Engine Media team on creative direction for each shoot
What You Need
- Automotive/motorsports video experience required — the vehicle, driver, or event was the subject of the project, not incidental background footage. Racing, off-road, overlanding, or performance aftermarket content only; general videography work with cars in it does not qualify
- Product launch or reveal video experience required — prior work shooting or editing a product launch, reveal, or brand campaign video for an automotive, performance parts, or motorsports brand
- Experience cutting short-form social reels and cut-downs from long-form footage required — this is a regular deliverable, not an occasional one
- Comfortable helping plan a shoot and assist with logistics, scheduling, and basic budget tracking (light Jr. Producer duties — not full production ownership)
- Comfortable operating as a one-person shooter/editor unit — filming and cutting the same project with minimal support crew
- Hands-on experience shooting video with professional camera equipment, including Nikon and/or RED camera systems
- Comfortable shooting in physically demanding, unpredictable environments (racetracks, desert trails, dust, heat)
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects (basic motion graphics)
- Working knowledge of motorsports event structure (practice/qualifying/race format, paddock etiquette, media credentialing) — or demonstrated ability to learn it fast
- A demo reel or portfolio that specifically includes: trackside/motorsports footage, a product launch or reveal video, and at least one short-form social cut-down. Reels without these, or where automotive content is incidental to another project, will not move forward
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel for shoots, including multi-day event and trail travel
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when needed
- Ability to lift and carry camera equipment (up to 40 lbs) over uneven terrain
Nice to Have
- Prior experience assisting with production/logistics on automotive or motorsports shoots
- Existing relationships with race teams, tracks, off-road event organizers, or performance aftermarket brands
- Experience with motorsports media credentialing processes
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field
- Experience with color grading
- Experience recording and mixing audio on location, including trackside/event environments
- Experience with drone/FPV footage
- Your own camera or editing equipment
Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 per week
