Full-Charge Bookkeeper (Part-Time) | Multi-Unit Restaurant Group
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid/In-Office)

As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting functions across our multi-unit restaurant group. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the books, maintaining accurate financial records, and partnering with leadership to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple restaurant locations.
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Oversee the weekly accounts payable cycle, including check runs and electronic payments.
- Maintain vendor accounts, resolve discrepancies, and communicate professionally with vendors.
- Record financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and vendor statements.
- Track, allocate, and transfer expenses across multiple locations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Review financial records for accuracy and identify discrepancies or process improvements.
- Maintain organized financial documentation and support outside CPA with year-end reporting and tax preparation.
- Partner with ownership by providing financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required; 5+ years preferred, including full-cycle bookkeeping responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, including double-entry accounting, accrual accounting, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close.
- Experience preparing journal entries and financial statements.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) is required. Experience with similar accounting systems (e.g., Xero, Sage, Restaurant365) is a plus, but QuickBooks experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (sorting, filtering, formulas; pivot tables a plus).
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across several business locations and meet deadlines.
- Professional communication skills and ability to handle confidential financial information.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and proactive with a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or retail accounting.
- Experience supporting multi-unit operations.
- Familiarity with restaurant accounting concepts such as cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory tracking, and expense allocation.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience working with outside accountants or CPAs during month-end and year-end close.
