Overview
We're seeking a hands-on, detail-driven Floor Manager to open and run the production floor at WackyJacs, Gimme Candy Company's brand-new confectionery manufacturing facility in Ft. Pierce, FL. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee daily production operations across our gummy lines and ExtruFoods extruder line, ensuring product quality, food safety compliance, on-time output, and a positive team culture from the ground up. Your leadership will directly shape how the floor is built. This is a working-manager position: you'll spend roughly half of each shift on the floor alongside a crew of 4–5 Candy Crewmen, and the rest managing schedules, training, quality, safety, maintenance, and reporting. The ideal candidate is a proven food-manufacturing supervisor with a calm head under pressure, a bias toward action, and the humility to run a station one hour and a P&L review the next. This full-time salaried position offers $50,000–$70,000 per year plus benefits and a performance bonus — with a clear promotion track to Senior Floor Manager, Operations Manager, and eventually General Manager.
Duties
- Direct daily production operations for your assigned shift across the gummy line and the ExtruFoods extruder line, holding the crew to production schedules and shift-level KPIs
- Operate production stations directly when crew capacity demands
- Schedule crew assignments by day type and lead daily pre-shift huddles and end-of-shift debriefs
- Help Hire, onboard, train, and develop Candy Crewmen across all four progression tiers using the Candy Crewman Progression Matrix
- Manage scheduling, time-off requests, shift coverage, overtime, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews
- Champion SOPs, GMP, HACCP, and allergen control across all production activity; lead weekly safety walkthroughs and corrective-action investigations
- Coordinate inbound receiving and outbound shipping operations across our three bay doors
- Execute preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate vendor service for major equipment (extruder, VFFS bagger, cooker + depositor, flow wrapper)
- Track shift production costs, produce daily and weekly production reports for the Owner, and contribute to monthly business reviews
- Place purchase orders with the Owner's approval and support inventory management across raw materials and finished goods
Skills
- 2–3 years in food production or manufacturing — confectionery, snack, or other regulated food environments preferred (this is the most important requirement)
- 1-2 years in a supervisory, lead, or working-manager capacity, formal or informal
- HACCP certification at the intermediate level or higher
- ServSafe Manager certification - We will sponsor
- OSHA-compliant Forklift Certification - We will sponsor
- Allergen Control training - We will sponsor
- Demonstrated leadership and people-development skills — you can hire, train, coach, and hold a small team accountable
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability — comfortable juggling production, people, and admin work in parallel
- Working knowledge of production scheduling, inventory management, KPI tracking, and cost control
- Comfort with spreadsheets, basic ERP or inventory systems, and electronic communication
- Preferred: hands-on experience with extruders, cookers/depositors, VFFS bagging, or flow wrapping equipment
- Preferred: prior work in a startup or small-team manufacturing environment
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Preferred: continuous improvement / Lean / Six Sigma exposure
- Preferred: bilingual English / Spanish
- High school diploma or GED required; authorized to work in the United States
