We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Heavy Civil and Concrete Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for large-scale civil and concrete construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret complex construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents to develop precise estimates.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Xactimate to prepare detailed cost proposals for heavy civil and concrete projects.
- Analyze project scopes, material requirements, labor needs, and equipment costs to generate accurate budgets.
- Manage the entire estimating process, including quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and other digital tools, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing on materials and services while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review bids, clarify project details, and refine estimates for maximum accuracy.
- Monitor project budgets during execution, implementing cost control measures and adjusting estimates as needed to meet financial targets.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating within heavy civil or concrete construction environments.
- Strong proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for digital drawing review and quantity takeoffs.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as HeavyBid and Xactimate for comprehensive project costing.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and contract documents accurately.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction site operations, project management principles, and contract administration.
- Experience managing project budgets from initial estimate through cost control during construction phases.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, safety standards, and relevant regulations.
