Position Overview
We’re seeking a Service Driver + Shop Technician — a hybrid role combining route driving with shop operations and maintenance.
You’ll collect used cooking oil from local restaurants and assist in processing and maintaining oil recycling systems in our Burnham facility.
This is a hands-on, active job that requires comfort working around oil, grease, and mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Route Service
- Operate a vacuum truck to collect used cooking oil from restaurants and food establishments.
- Deliver, reclaim, and clean collection bins.
- Inspect for theft, equipment damage, and report irregularities.
- Set up new customer accounts and maintain positive customer interactions.
- Perform light maintenance and daily checks on trucks.
- Complete all assigned local routes efficiently and safely.
Shop & Processing Work
- Process and transfer used oil for recycling operations.
- Clean and reclaim collection bins and filters.
- Clean spills, empty garbage, and maintain overall shop cleanliness.
- Perform light maintenance and assist with mechanical work.
- Support the team in maintaining pumps, valves, and pipefittings.
- Assist in general facility upkeep and organization.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (CDL Class C or higher preferred).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and team-oriented.
- Willingness to work in a dirty, industrial environment.
- Basic mechanical skills required.
- Familiarity with diesel mechanics, pumps, and/or pipefittings is a plus.
- English proficiency required (ESL friendly).
Compensation
- $20.00–$27.00/hour, depending on experience and license class.
- $20–$25/hour for Class C CDL
- $25+/hour for Class B/A CDL
- Quarterly reviews with potential for performance-based raises.
- Additional pay for CDL-certified drivers.
