We are seeking an experienced Collections Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of collections experience. The collections legal assistant will be working directly with the firm’s attorneys. The collections legal assistant will be responsible for preparing legal documents, file court paperwork, manage case files, communicating with clients and debtors, and assist with court proceedings.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years legal assistant and collection experience.
- Case Management: Initiate collection lawsuits, monitor account portfolios, and track case statuses through the legal system.
- Document Preparation: Draft, review, and e-file legal pleadings, summons, complaints, default judgments, and post-judgment paperwork.
- Research & Skip Tracing: Utilize public databases to locate debtors and verify assets.
- Communication: Draft verification-of-debt letters, handle settlement negotiations, and establish payment plans.
- Bankruptcy Monitoring: Track active bankruptcy accounts and prepareProofs of Claim.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, electronic court filing systems, and DebtNet.
Applicant must maintain a strict confidentiality while dealing with internal and client data. Individual must have the ability to work independently and have excellent client service skills in person, over the phone, and via email.
Rate of pay is negotiable based on education and experience.
