Position Overview
The Veterinary Technician plays an essential role in supporting our veterinarians by providing exceptional patient care, educating clients, and helping maintain efficient daily hospital operations.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary clinic or hospital
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to Fear Free handling techniques and compassionate patient care
Preferred
- Experience collecting blood samples
- Experience placing intravenous catheters
- Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring
Responsibilities
- Safely restrain patients using Fear Free handling techniques
- Obtain patient histories and perform basic patient intake, including temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR)
- Perform in-house laboratory testing, including SNAP testing
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture
- Place intravenous catheters
- Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures
- Answer client questions with professionalism, compassion, and confidence
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Assist with inventory management and supply control
- Help facilitate efficient patient flow throughout the hospital
- Work collaboratively with doctors and fellow team members to provide exceptional patient care
