Candidate Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma
- Have the ability to work effectively under the direction of others
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
- Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).

Position Summary: To assist the teacher in achieving identified instructional goals.
Job Function and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of teachers
- Assists in the implementation of Individualized Education Plans and related data collection
- Assists with accommodation of learning environment and materials
- Assists with implementation of behavior management plans including data collection
- Provides personal care assistance
- Collaborates with all professionals including teachers, counselor, speech therapist, social worker, occupational therapist, and physical therapist
- Assists classroom teachers with maintaining student records
- Supports students with emotional or behavior concerns and assists them in developing appropriate social skills
- Assists with extra duties related to the supervision of students – lunch periods, assemblies, field trips, etc.
- Guides independent study, practice work, and corrective instruction directed by the teacher collecting appropriate data throughout the process
- Assists the teacher in preparing instructional materials for classroom use
- Assists with individual and small group remediation and instructional support
- Maintains confidentiality of student information
