Cedar Crest Academy is seeking a dedicated and reliable Lunchroom Assistant to help create a safe, positive, and efficient environment during student mealtimes. The Lunchroom Assistant will be responsible for supervising students, assisting with meal distribution, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that lunchtime procedures run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Safety:
- Monitor students during lunch to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Encourage appropriate behavior and enforce school rules in the lunchroom.
- Assist students with seating, opening food packages, and addressing any concerns that arise.
- Respond promptly to spills, accidents, or other incidents in the cafeteria.
- Meal Assistance & Organization:
- Assist with meal distribution and ensure students receive the correct food items.
- Help younger students with their trays, utensils, and seating arrangements.
- Encourage students to eat in a timely manner and follow cafeteria procedures.
- Assist with preparing snacks.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation:
- Set up and wipe down tables and chairs between lunch periods.
- Assist in sorting and disposing of food waste and recycling materials.
- Help maintain cleanliness in the cafeteria by sweeping floors and ensuring trash is properly managed.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a hygienic lunchroom environment.
- Communication & Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and cafeteria workers to ensure an organized and efficient lunchtime experience.
- Communicate any student concerns or behavioral issues to the appropriate school personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage large groups of students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, a positive attitude, and a commitment to student well-being.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift light items as needed during lunch periods.
- Food Handler's Permit
Schedule & Compensation:
- Hours: 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
- Compensation: $21 / hour
