The Senior Clinician (SC) is the person designated as the lead clinician providing direct and indirect patient care. The Senior Clinician works closely with the Clinical Manager, Director and Medical Director. The SC is responsible for day to day clinical management of the program. S/he helps evaluate clinical appropriateness of admissions and helps assess appropriate level of care for new as well as established patients. This individual is a role model for professionalism on the unit. This includes problem solving, facilitating and building team cohesion and maximizing use of limited resources to accomplish goals. The Senior Clinician is a role model for documentation ensuring that it is maintained in a manner that is current, comprehensive, detailed, organized, and meets all regulatory requirements. This individual is responsible for clinical supervision of the Counseling staff, assessing their educational needs and providing a framework to accomplish their professional development. This individual works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorders team. S/he is responsible for delegation and follow up for utilization reviews for MCO’s. The Senior Clinician actively supports the mission of the hospital and health system and is directly accountable to Clinical Manager and or the Department Director.
