Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment notes, and medical coding.
- Collect vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and guiding patients through their visit process.
- Maintain infection control standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations and proper sterilization procedures for all clinical tools and surfaces.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical records management and insurance claims processing.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while following radiation safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding relevant to dental procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
