American Traveler is hiring a Night shift RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience along with a CT or compact RN license.

MS/Tele unit within a Level I Trauma Center, short term acute care hospital
-
Overflow vent patients requiring trach experience
-
Patient ratios average 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
-
Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
-
Every other weekend required
-
May float frequently between sister units NP1 and EP 4-6
-
No on-call requirements
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Assignment includes patients on pulmonary vents and vent weaning, along with up to 5 non-vent patients
-
Active CT or compact RN license required, or must apply prior to start date
-
BLS certification required, NIHSS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)

Level I Trauma Center experience preferred

Ventilator care experience required
-
Tracheostomy care and management experience required
-
Non-invasive airway management skills required
-
Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
-
Rapid Response/Code team experience required
-
IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care experience required
-
Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
-
One professional reference required
-
Provide respiratory and ventilator care including weaning support for pulmonary vent patients
-
Manage tracheostomy care and non-invasive airway interventions
-
Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to dysrhythmias and emergencies
-
Participate in Rapid Response/Code team activations as needed
-
Royal blue scrub color required
-
Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
-
COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
-
Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
-
Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
-
Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
