State FLOORS
SINCE 1973 · CRANSTON, RI
THIS JOB IS NOT FOR EVERYONE.
Sales Professional · Full-Time · Cranston, RI · State Floors LLC
Most people who read this will close the tab. That’s fine. We’re not looking for most people.
We’ll be direct: this role will chew up the wrong person fast. You’ll be measuring homes and pricing jobs in the morning, cold-calling commercial prospects who don’t call back in the afternoon, and writing RFP responses that took you three hours to put together that might not even win. Some Saturdays you’ll be doing estimates at 8am. There will be weeks where nothing goes right and you’ll have to find a way anyway. If any of that sounds like a reason to pass — please do. This isn’t the role for you and that’s okay.
But if you’re the kind of person who gets up in the morning wanting to outsell yesterday — who walks into a stranger’s home or a GC’s job trailer and doesn’t leave without moving the ball forward — who earns every dollar and then goes looking for more — keep reading.
State Floors has been winning in this market since 1973. We didn’t get here by hiring warm bodies. We’re building something, we’re growing, and the person in this seat will be a big part of that. The rewards are real. So is the work.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
— The full residential sales cycle — in-home measure appointments, scope documentation, and pricing every job to margin. You set the number. You own the outcome.
— Existing commercial accounts: maintain the relationships, show up on-site, keep the work running smoothly.
— New commercial business — you’re hunting. Identify prospects, build relationships, and bring new contracts to State Floors. Nobody hands you a lead list and wishes you luck.
— RFP responses and formal bid submissions, written end-to-end. You’re not filling in a template — you’re writing the bid.
— Field support on active jobs: site check-ins and customer troubleshooting when things don’t go according to plan — because sometimes they don’t.
WHAT THIS TAKES
— Real experience in construction or a related trade — you understand how a job is built, what can go wrong, and how to price it accurately. Flooring background is a plus; construction field experience is required.
— The ability to walk into a homeowner’s living room or a GC’s job trailer and be equally credible in both. You read the room fast and you adjust.
— Discipline. You’re managing your own day — commercial calls, site visits, and RFPs don’t work themselves. If you need someone to tell you what to do next, this isn’t the seat for you.
— Competitive instinct. We want to win jobs, grow accounts, and take market share. If that doesn’t excite you, it will show.
— Valid driver’s license with a clean record. A company vehicle is provided during work hours.
THE DETAILS
— Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Saturdays 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM for estimates when needed.
— Base salary $50,000 plus monthly commission. On-target earnings $80,000–$100,000+. The “plus” is real — top performance gets well above it.
— Commission is tied to margin, not just revenue — we win the right way or we don’t win.
LIFE AT THE SHOP
We’ve been at this for over fifty years and we’re not slowing down. It’s a small, tight-knit crew that genuinely enjoys each other’s company — the kind of place where people eat lunch together and still hold each other to a real standard. We work hard, we’re invested in the people on this team, and we don’t settle for second place.
If you want to be part of something that’s growing and you’re willing to put in the work to help build it — we want to hear from you.
