Examples of Duties:
- Assists with resident cares and activities of daily living, addressing resident needs relative to bed mobility, range of motion, transfers, change of position, ambulation, locomotion, dressing, personal hygiene, and bathing.
- Answers call lights in an effort to address residents’ needs.
- Assists residents at mealtime, as well as with taking nourishment, and records intake.
- Assists residents with elimination needs, aiding in the collection of specimens as directed.
- Assists in applying protective devices, with nurse’s direction, and checking residents as indicated.
- Takes temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and weight of residents.
- Maintains precise, accurate, and complete charting of resident care.
- Observes, records, and reports resident changes, both physical and emotional, reporting significant resident findings promptly to unit/charge nurse.
- Reports concerns related to residents’ rights promptly to unit/charge nurse, nurse management, or a social worker.
- Fosters a safe and calm therapeutic environment, encouraging and assisting residents toward improved function, self-care, and independence, as they are capable.
- Labels and maintains an inventory of residents’ personal belongings. Assists residents with storing belongings.
- Performs housekeeping tasks related to resident care, including changing bed linens; collecting soiled linens; making beds; cleaning beds, bedside stands, and other furniture; straightening drawers and cupboards; cleaning up spills; and wiping off surfaces.
- Engages in one-on-one and group activities with residents.
- Escorts residents to appointments, activities, and outings as assigned.
