What to Expect as a Grocery Manager
- Deliver a welcoming, curated shopping experience by guiding guests through product selections, recommendations, and usage suggestions
- Maintain a strong knowledge of bakery offerings, grocery products, specialty beverages, and retail merchandise to confidently assist guests and support team members
- Collaborate with Product and Merchandising Manager in building product displays, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring shelves and aisles are clean, organized, and visually appealing
- Delegate daily operational and merchandising tasks to team members, including display setup and product rotation
- Monitor pricing and signage to ensure accuracy and proper point-of-sale functionality
- Track inventory levels, conduct routine stock checks, and identify replenishment needs
- Support Product and Merchandising Manager in placing and managing product orders to maintain appropriate inventory levels and minimize out-of-stock items
- Receive, verify, and organize inventory deliveries from vendors
- Lead, coach, and support team members in delivering exceptional sales and service experiences
- Address guest concerns professionally and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Train and develop employees across all areas of store operations, including merchandising, stocking, cleaning, cash handling, guest service, barista bar, and department-specific responsibilities.
- Foster a positive team culture through ongoing coaching, recognition, and performance feedback
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of both customer-facing and back-of-house areas
- Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and leadership to support smooth daily operations
- Uphold Perenn’s hospitality standards by providing exceptional service in a fast-paced environment
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
About You
- Must be 18 years of age or older due to sale of alcohol
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a grocery or food/beverage procurement-related role, with prior experience in a leadership or management role preferred
- Strong barista experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds regularly
- Must be able to stay on feet for prolonged periods of time
