Duties
- Assist in preparing ingredients and assembling dishes according to established recipes and menu plans
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives, slicers, ovens, and mixers
- Follow food safety protocols and handle food with care to maintain hygiene standards
- Support meal preparation for various settings such as catering events or restaurant service
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen appliances through regular cleaning routines
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow
- Adhere to safety standards during food production, storage, and handling processes
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is preferred but not required
- Hands-on experience with menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of food safety management and proper food handling procedures
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong knife skills, slicing techniques, and understanding of recipe adherence
- Experience in food service or restaurant environments is advantageous
- Ability to work well within a team while maintaining clear communication with kitchen staff
- Basic understanding of culinary principles, including meal preparation and catering experience is a plus
