We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and program CNC machines, including Haas lathes and milling centers, to produce precision components in accordance with engineering specifications. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where craftsmanship, technical expertise, and safety are paramount. The successful applicant will contribute to maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and innovation in our production processes.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily using Fanuc controls.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM programming software to optimize machining processes.
- Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure precise manufacturing.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and ensure tooling is properly installed and calibrated.
- Conduct quality checks throughout the machining process to maintain tight tolerances and adherence to specifications.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment for setup adjustments or minor repairs.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements for efficiency and waste reduction.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to welding, plastics injection molding, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and other manufacturing activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on CNC programming improvements using SolidWorks, CAD software, or other design tools.
- Assist with assembly or integration of machined parts as required.
Skills
- Proven experience in CNC programming and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes with Fanuc controls.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawing interpretation.
- Proficiency in CAM programming software for toolpath generation.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques.
- Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding techniques.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Mechanical knowledge related to tooling setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with power tools, hand tools, forklifts, and other shop equipment safely.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of quality. This position is integral to our manufacturing operations where precision meets innovation. We welcome candidates who are committed to craftsmanship excellence and eager to contribute their technical expertise in a fast-paced setting.
