American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Acute Dialysis position at a Level II Trauma center in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute inpatient dialysis experience and an active IL RN license.

Acute care inpatient hospital setting with a 2-room, 4-bed dialysis unit

Average daily census of 3–6 patients

Patient population includes acute renal failure, acute kidney injury (AKI), hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis cases
-
Dialysis treatment skills required: administration of blood/blood products, Mannitol/albumin/23.4% NaCl, blood flow rates (Qb), dialysate flow rates (Qd), peritoneal catheter malfunction, vascular access malfunction, and venous pressure management

Equipment experience required: B. Braun Dialog machine

Vascular access skills required: cannulation of AV grafts and AV fistulas, as well as tunneled and non-tunneled catheter management

Machine alarm troubleshooting required: arterial pressure, blood leak detector, conductivity, and venous pressure alarms

Symptom management experience required: air emboli, cardiac arrest, chest pain, clotted access/poor blood flow, disequilibrium syndrome, filter blood leak, fluid overload, hyperkalemia, hypotension, muscle cramps, pyrogenic reaction, and seizures

Additional clinical skills required: airway management, blood glucose monitoring, and infection control

Charting via Cerner (experience preferred)

Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 0700–1730
-
On-call required: 2–3 overnight calls per week; every third Saturday on call through Monday at 0700; 1-hour response time required for call

Unit is closed Sundays; weekend on-call nurse covers emergent cases only

Floating within the hospital or to an affiliate facility is required of all travelers

Active IL RN license required prior to consideration

Active BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)

ACLS certification preferred

Minimum 1 year of acute care inpatient dialysis experience required

Experience with acute renal failure, AKI, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis required
-
Experience with B. Braun Dialog dialysis equipment required
-
Cerner EMR experience preferred
-
Teaching hospital, community hospital, and/or Level I or II trauma center experience preferred
-
SSN and DOB required for consideration

All required licenses and certifications must be active at time of consideration

Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
