Job Title: Service Technician – Journeyman/Level IV, V, VI
Job Function & Purpose: Get it Fixed. Use mechanical expertise to maintain, repair, and overhaul agricultural equipment and implements.

Reporting Relationships: You report directly to the Service Manager of your branch location, as well as your Store Manager. You have a functional relationship with the Garton Tractor Service Director Drew Garton and the Board of Directors.
Responsibility: As a service technician, you are responsible for:
- REPAIRING AND MAINTAINING MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT: Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and other mechanical agricultural equipment and implements.

OPERATING VEHICLES, MECHANIZED DEVICES, OR EQUIPMENT: Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts and tractors.

MAKING REPAIRS AND SOLVING PROBLEMS: Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

UPDATING AND USING RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE: Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
Principal & Essential Duties: The principal duties of a Service Technician consist of, but are not limited to the following.
- Repair machines and equipment using the needed tools.

Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine what kind of maintenance is needed.

Determine the causes of operating errors and decide what to do about them.

Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators making sure in determining what tools and equipment are needed to do a job.

Pick-up or order the needed parts from the Parts Department.
Standards and Measurement of Performance: You will meet or exceed your expectations when the following occurs:
- Accuracy of service diagnosis, including picking-up the correct parts from the Parts Department.

No negligent practices which could lead to a work-related injury

Favorable review by Service and Store Manager

Majority of “clocked” time is used completing work orders

Minimum “Dead Time”

All Work Orders are filled out completely and correctly

Advancing on the Technician Level System (Apprentice, Journeyman)

Produces income for the company
