Residential Renovation / Maintenance Construction
About the Position
Blue Chip Construction is seeking an experienced, hands-on Residential Crew Foreman to lead a small field crew completing residential renovations, property turns, repairs, maintenance work orders, and construction projects throughout the Oklahoma City metro.
This is a working foreman position, not a desk-based project management role. You will work alongside your crew while serving as the primary leader on each jobsite.
Our foreman should be one of the most experienced and capable members of the crew. You will perform the higher-skilled portions of projects, direct and train less-experienced employees, maintain workmanship standards, troubleshoot problems, coordinate materials and tools, and keep jobs moving efficiently from start to completion.
Project estimating, invoicing, client management, and overall company operations are handled by management. Your responsibility is to own the execution of the work in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside a small residential construction crew
- Execute renovation scopes, property turns, repairs, and maintenance work orders
- Perform the higher-skilled and more technical portions of projects
- Assign work to crew members based on their abilities and project priorities
- Train and develop less-experienced crew members
- Troubleshoot residential construction and maintenance issues
- Maintain Blue Chip workmanship and quality standards
- Identify additional repairs or problems discovered during projects
- Determine materials, tools, and supplies needed to complete work
- Coordinate material and supply runs
- Track purchases and submit receipts and required job documentation
- Maintain clean, organized, professional, and safe jobsites
- Perform final walkthroughs and punch-list work
- Communicate job progress, problems, material needs, and scope questions to management
- Help ensure projects are completed efficiently and correctly
Trade & Construction Experience
We're looking for a well-rounded residential tradesperson, not someone who specializes exclusively in one trade.
You should have broad hands-on experience with residential renovation, construction, repairs, and maintenance, including familiarity withbasic-to-intermediate plumbing, HVAC, and residential electrical systems.
Plumbing
You should be comfortable diagnosing and completing common residential plumbing repairs such as:
- Faucets, sinks, toilets, disposals, and fixtures
- Supply lines, shutoff valves, traps, and similar components
- Basic leak diagnosis and repair
- Basic drain troubleshooting
- Straightforward fixture and component replacements
- Identifying when a plumbing problem requires a licensed plumber or specialized equipment
You are not expected to perform major plumbing replacements, sewer work, or other work requiring a specialized or licensed plumbing contractor.
HVAC
We are looking for practical residential HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience rather than a full-service HVAC technician.
Relevant experience may include:
- Diagnosing common residential HVAC problems
- Replacing capacitors
- Replacing contactors
- Replacing relays and control components
- Thermostat replacement and troubleshooting
- Basic HVAC electrical/control-system troubleshooting
- Routine maintenance and component replacement
- Recognizing when a problem requires an HVAC specialist
You are not expected to rebuild HVAC systems, perform refrigerant work, evacuate or recharge systems, pull vacuum, or personally own the specialized equipment of a full-service HVAC technician.
Electrical
You should have a practical understanding of residential electrical systems and be comfortable identifying and troubleshooting common electrical issues within the appropriate scope of the position.
We value experience with:
- Understanding common residential electrical components and systems
- Identifying common electrical problems
- Safe use of appropriate diagnostic tools
- Understanding switches, receptacles, fixtures, breakers, controls, and related components
- Recognizing unsafe conditions
- Knowing when electrical work should be stopped and referred to a licensed electrician
Employees will only perform electrical work that is appropriate and legally permitted for the position. We do not expect or require the foreman to perform work that requires a licensed electrician.
Additional Construction Skills
Strong candidates should have experience across several areas of residential construction and renovation, such as:
- Framing and general carpentry
- Drywall installation, finishing, and repair
- Interior and exterior painting
- Trim, baseboards, doors, and finish carpentry
- Flooring installation and repair
- Cabinet and vanity installation
- Tile and backsplash work
- Fixture installation
- Demolition
- Exterior repairs
- General residential maintenance
- Punch-list and make-ready work
- Measuring, cutting, layout, and material estimation
You do not need to be a master tradesperson in every category. We value broad construction knowledge, craftsmanship, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and knowing the limits of your own expertise.
Skill Level We're Looking For
This position sits between a general construction laborer and a specialized master tradesperson.
If your experience is primarily demolition, cleanup, painting, flooring, and basic cosmetic work, this position will likely be more advanced than your current skill level.
At the same time, we are not looking for a master electrician, master plumber, and full-service HVAC technician rolled into one person.
We're looking for someone who can walk into a residential property, understand how the major systems and components work, troubleshoot common problems, complete a broad range of repairs and renovation work, lead other employees through the less technical portions of the job, and recognize when something needs to be escalated to a specialized contractor.
Tools & Transportation
Reliable transportation and your own basic tools are required for this position.
As an experienced tradesperson, you should own the normal hand and power tools reasonably expected for everyday residential construction, renovation, and repair work.
Blue Chip Construction will provide or purchase specialty tools and job-specific equipment as necessary. Employees are not expected to personally purchase expensive specialty equipment simply because an individual project requires it.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on construction position. Applicants should be comfortable with the physical demands and changing environments associated with residential renovation and maintenance work.
The position may require:
- Regularly lifting and carrying construction materials, tools, equipment, and debris
- Lifting approximately 50–75 lbs when necessary
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing
- Working from ladders when appropriate
- Working in attics, confined spaces, and other residential work areas when necessary
- Performing demolition and other physically demanding work
- Working indoors and outdoors
- Working in Oklahoma heat, cold, and changing weather conditions
- Working around dust, dirt, construction debris, noise, and active renovation environments
- Safely operating common hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment

Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on residential renovation, remodeling, property maintenance, or general residential construction experience
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on residential remodeling, renovation, maintenance, or general contracting experience
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Crew Lead, Lead Maintenance Technician, Lead Carpenter, Renovation Technician, or similar position
- Experience completing full residential turns, make-readies, or renovation scopes from start to finish
- Experience working across several residential trades rather than specializing exclusively in one area
- Experience determining material needs and coordinating purchases for jobs
- Experience reading scopes of work and planning the sequence in which work should be completed
- Experience performing final walkthroughs, identifying deficiencies, and completing punch lists
What Qualifies — and What Doesn't
We're looking for breadth of residential experience, not simply time spent on construction sites.
Three years spent performing residential renovations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting across multiple trades may be more relevant to this position than ten years performing one specific task.
Experience exclusively as a general laborer, helper, painter, flooring installer, framer, roofer, or other single-trade position will not by itself meet the experience requirements for this foreman position.
A qualified candidate should be able to walk into a residential property, evaluate the work that needs to be completed, understand the proper sequence of work, identify common repair problems, perform the more skilled portions of the project, and direct less-experienced crew members through the remaining work.
- Experience must include performing skilled work directly, not solely working as a general laborer or helper
- Demonstrated experience across multiple areas of residential repair and renovation, rather than experience limited to a single trade or phase of construction
- Experience independently troubleshooting residential repair and maintenance issues
- Practical experience with basic-to-intermediate residential plumbing and HVAC repairs and familiarity with residential electrical troubleshooting
- Experience with common renovation work such as drywall, carpentry, doors and trim, flooring, painting, fixture installation, demolition, and punch-list work
- Experience using common hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, and construction equipment
- Previous experience directing, training, or leading other workers on a jobsite
Compensation & Growth
Starting Pay: $25–$27/hour, based on experience and demonstrated capability.
This position is intended to have room for advancement as Blue Chip Construction grows.
A foreman who demonstrates the ability to take on greater responsibility—including coordinating multiple projects and crews, managing schedules, purchasing and job costs, project documentation, invoicing, client communication, and broader field operations—will have opportunities to advance into higher-level field supervision or project management positions with increased compensation.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
