Responsibilities
- Respond promptly calls across city streets and various locations, operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses.
- Perform critical care procedures such as airway management, venipuncture, medication administration, and injection techniques in accordance with protocols.
- Utilize medical equipment operation skills for patient monitoring, airway support, and incident command during complex emergencies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments administered, vital signs, and incident reports following aseptic techniques.
- Navigate city streets efficiently while adhering to traffic laws to ensure timely arrival at the scene and transportation to healthcare facilities.
- Support hospital staff with patient transport duties, ensuring safe handling of patients with heavy lifting requirements and proper use of DME (Durable Medical Equipment).
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, trauma medicine, emergency medicine procedures, and critical care response protocols.
Experience
- Prior EMT experience with a strong foundation in basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working within hospital settings or emergency rooms is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with incident command systems during large-scale emergencies or mass casualty incidents.
- Proven capability in emergency vehicle operation combined with safe driving practices on city streets.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, trauma care protocols, cardiovascular emergency response techniques, and medication administration procedures.
