CNC Lathe Set-Up / Operator – 2nd Shift
HireCall is hiring! We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up / Operator for a full-time 2nd shift position in Owasso, OK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who is comfortable setting up and operating Mazak CNC lathes and working independently in a precision manufacturing environment.

Position Overview
The CNC Lathe Set-Up / Operator will independently set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and production efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience with Mazatrol controls, blueprint reading, precision measurement, tooling, and troubleshooting.
This position is well suited for a skilled machinist who can work with minimal supervision in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Setup & Operation

Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes, including QT, Nexus, Integrex, or similar machines.

Load raw materials and configure tooling, offsets, and fixtures.

Verify machine setup accuracy before beginning production.

Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed.

Ensure production runs efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and GD&T specifications.

Edit Mazatrol conversational programs and/or G-code programs at the machine.

Adjust tooling paths, feeds, and speeds to optimize machining performance.

Select appropriate tooling for specific machining applications.

Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts.

Use precision measuring equipment including:

Micrometers
-
Calipers
-
Dial indicators
-
Gauges
-
Verify parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.

Maintain quality standards and inspection procedures.

Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance.

Maintain accurate production records, inspection reports, and machine logs.
-
Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Required Qualifications

2–5+ years of experience operating and setting up Mazak CNC lathes
-
Experience with Mazatrol conversational programming and/or G-code
-
Strong CNC lathe setup experience, including tooling, fixtures, and offsets

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T

Understanding of machining speeds, feeds, and tooling selection

Experience using precision measuring instruments

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

High school diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with multi-axis or live-tooling Mazak machines
-
Experience in ISO 9001 or AS9100 manufacturing environments

Forklift experience or certification
-
Experience with SPC tracking or ERP job reporting systems

Technical or vocational machining training
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to stand for extended periods, typically 8–10 hours

Frequent bending, reaching, and other physical activity

Comfortable working around industrial machinery, noise, coolant, and typical machine-shop conditions
