About Us:
We are a nonprofit, state certified, play based preschool program serving children aged 3–5 years in our community for over 30 years. Located within an elementary school, our multi-age PreK program is designed to help children develop critical thinking skills, improve social skills, and foster the foundation necessary for future learning.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social emotional practice, child-centered exploration, creative learning environments, and individual growth. They are responsible for maintaining an inclusive classroom community and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Teacher within our program your responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes active learning through guided play, make believe play, inquiry, exploration, observation, collaborative play, and games using intentional prompts, provocations, questions, elaboration, and language development strategies to support individual learning goals and priority early learning standards.
- Establish, model, and maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.
- Help students develop positive individual identity and foster respect for home cultures and community diversity.
- Cultivate positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Support and communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and development.
- Observe and collect data concerning children's individual development goals, maintaining accurate records.
- Implement problem solving and modified behavioral strategies with students consistent with goals.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and organizational policies.
- Participate in and implement ongoing professional development and training.
- Complete tasks and assignments efficiently and effectively.
- Follow established procedures and district policies as stated in staff and family handbooks and other district, state, and federal regulations.
- Attends and contributes to program staffing as appropriate.
- Sweep, clean, and sanitize classroom throughout daily activities.
- Perform related duties as needed and requested.
Skills:
A strong candidate will demonstrate:
- Prioritize early learning best practices and individual learning goals.
- Commitment to completing at least 15 hours of training annually related to child development or early childhood education.
- Demonstrated competence, sound judgment, and self-control in working with children.
- Awareness and sensitivity to gender and multicultural issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership abilities and capacity to work collaboratively with others.
- Work with and care for young children in an energetic, supportive, and positive manner.
- Able to pivot quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Alternatively, completion of 20 semester or 30 quarter credits in relevant coursework and at least one year of qualifying teaching experience in a certified child care center or comparable group care program.
- Documentation of attaining at least Step 8.5 in the Oregon Registry.
- Current enrollment in the Oregon Criminal Background Registry.
- Valid Food Handlers card (within 30 days of employment).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (within 90 days of employment).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 35 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
- Capability to respond quickly to children's needs and emergencies.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.

Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
