We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including buses, paratransit vans, or freight trucks, adhering strictly to traffic laws and vehicle codes.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition, including checking mechanical systems and safety equipment.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid protocols such as CPR.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers or clients, assisting with boarding, and managing behavior effectively.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or road conditions by adjusting routes or schedules to ensure timely arrivals.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with company policies.
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary, such as loading or unloading cargo or assisting passengers with mobility needs.
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving with a valid CDL license.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, defensive driving techniques, and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to traffic changes or emergencies while maintaining safety standards.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
- Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; familiarity with childcare or senior care enhances service quality.
- Excellent behavior management skills to handle diverse passenger needs professionally.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting and prolonged periods of driving or standing.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols such as emergency stop procedures and first aid (including CPR).
- Multilingual skills and teaching experience are advantageous for engaging with a broad range of clients and community groups.
