Position Overview
Vanderbilt Area Schools (VAS) is seeking an experienced, retired principal to serve as Principal. This is an
excellent opportunity for a retired administrator to re-engage in school leadership and make a meaningful impact
in a supportive, close-knit community. The Principal is the instructional and administrative leader of the school,
responsible for creating a positive school culture, supporting staff, and ensuring the success of every student.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide instructional leadership and set high expectations for student achievement.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe school culture for students, staff, and families.
- Support and mentor staff in professional growth and effective instruction.
- Manage school operations including scheduling, discipline, and attendance.
- Lead school improvement planning and implementation of district goals.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and board policies.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent and community stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Retired principal or school administrator strongly preferred.
- Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate (active or reactivatable) required.
- Master's degree in Educational Administration or related field required.
- Proven experience as a building principal or district administrator.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and educational best practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and community engagement.
- Michigan retired educators should review MPSERS reemployment guidelines prior to applying.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is $400.00 per day.
Pay: From $400.00 per day
