QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Cook Experience Required.
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Must have a genuine interest in working with geriatric residents; have a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis; and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions. Must be able to stand and walk most of the tour of duty; must be able to bend, stoop, reach for, lift and carry food and kitchen equipment; must taste and smell food to determine quality and palatability; must utilize hand dexterity to prepare food and have some initiative; must wear clean hairnets and closed-toe shoes and keep hands and fingernails clean at all times.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Must have some knowledge in food preparation, cleaning various types of surfaces and some knowledge of various tasks performed in a kitchen. Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities and be familiar with seasoning requirements and cooking time involved. Must have some knowledge of cooking various types of dishes. Must be able to make simple estimates relative to quantities of food required.
STANDARDS:
Knowledge of and ability to meet regulations of state, federal, and OSHA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor temperatures.
- Performs a variety of duties in the kitchen, such as cleaning work tables and refrigerator, sweeping, and mopping floors, obtaining and distributing supplies and utensils, and watching and stirring cooking foods to prevent burning.
- Carries dirty cooking utensils to be washed and returns clean utensils to proper location in kitchen.
- Carries out garbage.
- Delivers food trays to wings.
- May assist in setting up trays and dishing up food and desserts at mealtime.
- May relieve Cook of duties such as preparing fruits and vegetables, toast, and beverages.
- Takes an interest in providing nutritional care of residents.
- Works cooperatively with associates.
- Involved in setting up meals, preparing food of high quality in specified amounts, serving correct dietary needs, and serving attractive and appetizing meals.
- Utilize leftovers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER WORK VARIABLES:
Working Hours: Hours will be assigned by Supervisor. Other: Split and swing shifts will be coordinated with the Dietary Manager and/or the Administrator.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
