Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and social programs within our senior living community. This role is vital in enhancing residents' quality of life through thoughtfully planned activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care settings, with a strong background in recreational therapy and dementia care. Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and implement a diverse calendar of activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including social events, cognitive exercises, and therapeutic activities.
- Facilitate engaging programs that support residents’ physical, emotional, and social needs while fostering a sense of community.
- Collaborate with staff members such as nursing, caregiving, and social work teams to ensure activities align with individual care plans and support residents’ ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
- Assist residents with participation in activities, providing encouragement and support for those with disabilities or dementia-related conditions.
- Manage scheduling logistics to ensure timely delivery of programs while accommodating residents’ routines and preferences.
- Offer counseling or guidance related to aging issues and assist residents in maintaining independence through activity participation.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes for reporting purposes.
- Stay informed about best practices in senior care, memory care, Alzheimer’s care, and recreational therapy to continually improve program offerings.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care environments; experience with dementia or Alzheimer’s care is highly desirable.
- Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior activity programming.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with disabilities or those requiring memory care support.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple priorities.
- Compassionate approach to caregiving with an understanding of aging issues counseling.
- Experience assisting residents with ADLs and providing person-centered care.
