Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Back of House Team Member at Toastique! This role is responsible for ensuring the café runs smoothly behind the scenes by maintaining exceptional cleanliness, completing accurate and timely prep, and supporting front-of-house flow as needed. BOH Team Members take pride in organization, food safety, and consistency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prep, Juicing & Food Safety
- Prepare ingredients and assemble menu items with speed and accuracy, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and food handling techniques
- Follow food safety protocols diligently to ensure cleanliness, proper storage, and sanitation in all kitchen areas
- Support meal preparation for catering events or special orders, ensuring timely delivery without compromising quality
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate food production and ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods
- Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, stored, and ready for each shift
- Maintain consistency and quality across all prepped items
Cleanliness & Organization
- Wash dishes continuously throughout the shift and return all items to their proper place
- Maintain a clean, organized BOH including prep areas, equipment, storage, and floors
- Support overall store cleanliness, including BOH, FOH, restrooms, utensils, and equipment
- Clean spills, messes, or accidents promptly and thoroughly
Inventory & Restocking
- Put away deliveries using FIFO (First In, First Out) standards
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to Shift Leads or Managers
- Restock utensils, water, disposables, and supplies as needed
Team Support & Communication
- Assist with station prep and FOH support during busy periods
- Communicate clearly with managers and teammates to prioritize tasks
- Manage time effectively and adjust priorities as business needs shift
- Ask for help when tasks build up to ensure standards are met
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food service within restaurant or food industry settings
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to cleanliness, consistency, and food safety
- Willingness to support all areas of the café when needed
- Reliable, punctual, and receptive to feedback
