Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, vital signs, medication dosage and frequency, and allergies.
- Prepare patient charts and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Perform routine procedures including venipuncture, catheterization, sterile dressing changes, and specimen collection per protocol.
- Administer medications as directed (IM, SQ, ID, oral, ophthalmic) following proper medication administration guidelines.
- Document clinical findings accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Complete physician orders, coordinate referrals, and assist with prescription processing.
- Enter laboratory, radiology, and authorization data per provider directives.
- Educate patients on medical conditions, diagnostic tests, and treatment plans within established guidelines.
- Maintain infection control, safety, and quality standards.
- Assist with outreach activities as required.
Administrative Duties:
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients professionally.
- Verify patient information and manage check-in/check-out.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments accurately.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance).
- Maintain inventory of medications and medical supplies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant certification required.
- Higher education beyond minimum requirements may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Knowledge of patient intake and triage procedures.
- Understanding of outpatient clinical workflows and administrative processes.
- Knowledge of infection control and safety standards.
- Ability to perform routine invasive procedures according to protocol.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to educate patients on proper care and treatment.
Working Conditions
- Work performed in an outpatient clinical environment.
- Exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens; OSHA training required.
- Moderate physical activity including standing and/or walking for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Full Time: Monday - Friday from 8am-4:30pm
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
