Construction Project Manager – Insurance Restoration & Reconstruction
Dependable Construction is seeking an experienced, highly organized Construction Project Manager to oversee residential and commercial reconstruction projects within an assigned territory.
This is a field-based, customer-facing position responsible for managing multiple active construction projects simultaneously—from smaller water-damage repairs to large-scale fire and full reconstruction projects.
Our company works extensively within the insurance restoration industry, so candidates with insurance reconstruction, restoration, estimating, adjusting, or carrier experience are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall execution and day-to-day management of assigned construction projects, including:
● Travel between multiple active job sites throughout the assigned territory.
● Oversee multiple reconstruction projects simultaneously at various stages of completion.
● Coordinate subcontractors, trades, vendors, homeowners, property representatives, and internal staff.
● Maintain existing relationships with subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and vendors.
● Recruit, qualify, and onboard new subcontractors and vendors as needed.
● Develop a dependable network of trades capable of handling both small repairs and large reconstruction projects.
● Schedule subcontractors and ensure projects remain on schedule.
● Verify that subcontractors are using the correct materials, products, installation methods, and construction processes.
● Perform regular site inspections for workmanship, progress, cleanliness, safety concerns, and overall project quality.
● Identify problems before they become delays or customer complaints.
● Coordinate and/or pick up materials when necessary to keep projects moving.
● Verify materials ordered and delivered are correct for the project.
● Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the construction process.
● Address customer questions, concerns, complaints, and expectations professionally and promptly.
● Escalate significant customer, subcontractor, financial, or construction issues through the appropriate chain of command when necessary.
● Maintain accurate daily tracking of every assigned project.
● Provide management with regular/daily project briefs regarding progress, upcoming work, delays, problems, customer concerns, subcontractor issues, collections, and anticipated completion dates.
● Coordinate change orders, customer-requested upgrades, and additional work.
● Assist with collecting customer payments, insurance checks, deductibles, supplements, change orders, and other amounts due.
● Obtain Certificates of Satisfaction and other required completion documentation.
● Conduct final walkthroughs and ensure punch-list items are completed promptly.
● Maintain professional relationships with homeowners, property owners, insurance adjusters, subcontractors, vendors, and other parties involved in each project.
● Perform all other normal duties associated with successfully managing construction projects from assignment through final completion and collection.
Preferred Experience
Strong preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
● Insurance restoration/reconstruction experience
● Residential and/or commercial construction management experience
● Water, fire, storm, or catastrophic property-loss experience
● Insurance adjuster or insurance carrier experience
● Xactimate and/or insurance estimating knowledge
● Existing relationships with subcontractors and trades
● Existing relationships within the insurance or adjusting industry
● Experience managing numerous projects and subcontractors simultaneously
● Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, materials, and quality control
● Bilingual English/Spanish
Candidates with a strong overall construction background who can demonstrate the ability to manage projects, subcontractors, customers, schedules, and budgets will also be considered.
Position Requirements
This is a field-intensive and customer-facing position. The successful candidate must:
● Be professional and presentable when meeting customers, adjusters, vendors, and subcontractors.
● Have dependable personal transportation.
● Have reliable cell-phone communication.
● Be comfortable driving regularly between job sites.
● Be capable of independently managing a territory and multiple active projects.
● Be highly organized and capable of keeping detailed track of numerous moving parts.
● Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and management.
● Be proactive and willing to solve problems rather than waiting for problems to escalate.
● Be dependable, accountable, and responsive.
● Understand that construction schedules sometimes require flexibility outside traditional office hours.
The Project Manager will use their personal vehicle for travel between job sites. Fuel associated with company-related travel will be provided/reimbursed by the company.
Compensation
Compensation is structured on a per-job basis and will be discussed during the interview based on experience, qualifications, capabilities, and the scope of projects assigned.
Additional commission opportunities are available for:
● New projects brought into and sold by the Project Manager
● Approved customer upgrades
● Applicable change orders/additional work
● Other revenue-generating opportunities as determined by the company
Candidates with established relationships capable of generating additional construction or insurance-related opportunities may have significant additional earning potential.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who understands that successful project management is more than simply scheduling subcontractors.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a territory and its projects—keeping jobs moving, maintaining subcontractor relationships, solving problems in the field, communicating with customers, protecting quality, collecting payments, documenting progress, and keeping management informed.
Experience managing insurance-related reconstruction projects from initial assignment through final completion and customer sign-off is highly desirable.
