ELL/ESL TeacherPioneer Academy is seeking a highly effective ELL/ESL teacher with 2-3 years of teaching experience for the 2026-2027 academic year.Responsibilities:
- The Upper School English Language Learning (ELL) Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality English language instruction that prepares multilingual learners for success in Pioneer Academy's rigorous college-preparatory curriculum.
- The instructor creates a supportive, language-rich, and culturally responsive learning environment where students develop academic English proficiency while building confidence, independence, and cross-cultural understanding. The teacher works closely with content-area teachers to ensure students successfully transition into mainstream college-preparatory courses.
- Students enrolled in Pioneer Academy's Intensive English Language Learning (IELL) Program typically enter with developing English proficiency (approximately CEFR A1–A2) and are expected to demonstrate measurable growth toward independent academic performance (approximately CEFR B1–B2) through intensive instruction and individualized support.
- The instructor teaches small classes (typically 8–12 students) that provide personalized instruction and meaningful opportunities for language development.
- Students receive intensive instruction in: English Language Foundations, Grammar & Academic Writing, Listening & Speaking, Reading & Literature, Academic Vocabulary, Content-Based English (including ELL History), TOEFL Junior Preparation, Academic Skills and Study Strategies.
- Teaching assignment may include the following classes: English Foundations, Grammar & Academic Writing, Listening & Speaking, Content-Based ELL History, Middle School ELL Support, TOEFL Junior Preparation, Other ELL courses as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in TESOL, ESL, Applied Linguistics, English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification preferred
- Experience teaching English Language Learners in middle or high school
- Demonstrated understanding of second language acquisition
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary range:
$55,000- $70,000 commensurate with experience.
