Duties
- Conduct detailed eye examinations, including refraction tests, visual acuity assessments, and ocular health evaluations
- Diagnose and manage eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and refractive errors using advanced diagnostic tools
- Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, or medications based on individual patient needs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options to promote long-term wellness
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases requiring specialized intervention
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during examinations and procedures
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice clinically
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with a focus on patient-centered care
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and ocular disease management
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and record keeping
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment when necessary to monitor overall health status
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Experience with optical equipment, medical coding, and sales strategies is a plus but not mandatory
