American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position in Charlotte, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a full suite of emergency certifications.

Works in a 34-bed Emergency Department (plus 32 vertical care areas) with an average census of 200+ patients per day
-
All-ages patient population including adult and pediatric medical emergencies, with heavy trauma stabilization (GSW, stabbings), and a significant mental health, homeless, and substance use population
-
Common diagnoses include stroke, respiratory illness, chest pain, abdominal pain, DM/DKA, and other typical ED presentations
-
Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4
-
12-hour day shifts, 0700–1900, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required
-
Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

No on-call requirements

Floating is required throughout Region 1 facilities, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, freestanding EDs within the region, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) — candidates who are not agreeable to floating should not apply

IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips

Active NC or compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI

TNCC preferred

Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency in general ED skills including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation

Epic EMR experience

Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Provides emergency nursing care to all-ages patients, including trauma stabilization and management of acute medical conditions

Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist, and a charge nurse

Orientation includes general facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
-
6-week scheduling cycle
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract

Navy scrubs required

Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
