Innovative Technologies Corporation (ITC) is seeking a Publication Coordinator to support a proposal for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) research communications and publications program.
Work may be performed from the FHWA office in McLean, Virginia, a Washington, DC office, or another designated office, depending on Government requirements.
The Publication Coordinator will manage the logistical and administrative lifecycle of document production from initial intake through final release. The coordinator will maintain schedules, track versions and approvals, coordinate handoffs among editors, designers, reviewers, and managers, and ensure each publication progresses through the required production workflow.
Clearance and Suitability
None. This is an unclassified position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully complete any required USDOT suitability processing and obtain a Government-issued Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential if required for facility or system access.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in document management, publishing workflows, publication coordination, or a comparable production environment.
- Experience maintaining schedules, milestones, status trackers, or production calendars.
- Experience tracking document versions, reviews, approvals, and required sign-offs.
- Ability to coordinate effectively among writers, editors, designers, reviewers, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint or comparable collaboration tools.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Federal Government publications or communications programs.
- Experience with technical reports, research publications, magazines, journals, or other formal publishing environments.
- Knowledge of document-control, records-management, or workflow-management practices.
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility, GPO publishing processes, or publication quality assurance.
- Experience using project-tracking or publication-management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the logistical and administrative lifecycle of publications from intake through production and release.
- Develop and maintain publication schedules, milestones, production calendars, and status reports.
- Track document versions, edit cycles, review comments, approvals, and required sign-offs.
- Coordinate handoffs among writers, editors, designers, technical reviewers, managers, and production personnel.
- Monitor workflow status and follow up on overdue reviews, decisions, or deliverables.
- Maintain accurate publication records, files, trackers, and supporting documentation.
- Identify schedule or workflow risks and elevate issues for timely resolution.
- Support final quality-control, release, distribution, and closeout activities.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this contingent-hire position is $65,000-$73,000, based on qualifications and experience. ITC offers medical, dental, and vision benefits; 10 days of paid time off; 7 days of sick leave; and other available company benefits.
This is a contingent position for a proposal ITC is bidding on. ITC anticipates contract award before January 1, 2027. Published July 30, 2026. Additional information will be provided during the interview process.
